Anassa Boutique Hotel
Set amongst the dry grasslands of Astypalaia's distinctive landscape and literally a few breaths away from the Aegean sea breeze, Anassa Hotel aims to strike a balance between local heritage and understated luxury. With a prime location overlooking the bay of Agios Vasilios, the 240 square meter boutique hotel offers guests tranquil sea views and soundscapes. The hotel consists of two interconnected structures that contour the site and rise sequentially to overlook outward-facing views. These architectural volumes intertwine to form an interplay of light and shadow, communal gathering spots and secluded retreats. At the heart of the hotel, a communal courtyard awaits guests to relax in its tranquil embrace, leading to an infinity pool that gazes upon the beach and the distant horizon. Each private room is adorned with expansive windows, offering uninterrupted sea views, further enhancing the sense of place. The lower levels of the hotel are constructed of sturdy stone walls using locally sourced materials, grounding the structure in the earthy essence of its surroundings. In contrast, the upper levels are clad in white plaster, in reference to the traditional Cycladic aesthetic. Interior finishes, tones and textures echo the natural palettes and earthy materiality, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Bespoke furnishings gracefully meld with the architectural elements, further enhancing the hotel's sense of refined elegance.
